What's New for 2009

Rick Cozad is the new pool supervisor, he oversees the two pools at Windmill Pointe Park as well as the splash pad at Patterson Park. He also organizes lifeguards, swim coaches and support staff. As the pool supervisor, one of Cozad's main jobs will be to serve as the go-between with parents and coaches.  Parents can bring their concerns, questions, and opinions to Rick. He will be working with Mutant coaches to improve practice sessions, with more emphasis on stroke techniques and drills.

As both a swim coach and a parent himself, Cozad brings a unique perspective to that task.  His own children, Peter, 15, Gretchen, 13, Emma, 11, and Thomas, 7, swim on the team, and Cozad is the swim coach at Andover High School in Bloomfield Hills. He has also taught swimming at all levels for community education programs in both Grosse Pointe and Harper Woods. He was a swim team member himself, a five time all-America at Oakland University, swimming both the backstroke and individual medley.

We look forward to a successful fun swim season.

Time trials will be held every week.  Times will be available by request for swimmers and parents. This is a great way to track individual growth and improvement.

Mini-meets will be timed, and also available by request to swimmers and parents.

All coaches are responsible to all teams, however, one coach will take the lead as the other coaches assist.
